BMW fastest and Audi wins race sim in day 2 of FE testing

In the second day of testing for the All-Electric racing formula, the ABB FIA Formula E, the fastest car still the BMW powered iFE.18 with a 1:16.977 granted by the Portuguese driver Antonio Felix Da Costa. Less luck today for Alexander Sims, after yesterday’s fast time, today he damaged his car in the morning session ending 8th in the overall standings.

Divide into three different sessions, Wednesday’s activity saw a 3 hours practice in the morning (where most of the quickest laps were set), followed by a 1-hour session in the early afternoon.

The last part of the daily program was, in fact, a race simulation which started not in the best way for Stoffel Vandoorne and his team HWA, because the car drove by the Belgian suffered a technical problem and was declared “red”, so was not safe to be touched by the track marshals. At the same time, the Audi e-tron FE05 of Daniel Abt hit the chicane on the main straight, causing a long break before the restart.

In the end, the race was won by Lucas Di Grassi’s Audi, while most of the field choose to pit on lap 31st ending the race simulation prematurely.

Another 30-minute session took place in the later afternoon, and the reign champion Jean-Eric Vergne set the best lap in his DS E-Tense FE 19.
